Salisbury Crags, Holyrood Park – 2009

Sheep were grazed here until 1977 [see NT2772 : Salisbury Crags, Holyrood Park – 1964 for a view from the same spot 45 years before]. The flat grass is regularly mown, and is a popular spot for joggers; the grass on the slopes is long and dense, and scrubby woodland has taken over from the gorse of 1964. The two most prominent buildings on the left skyline are The University of Edinburgh and St Gile’s Kirk.
