ST2191 : Policemans Helmet (Indian Balsam)

taken 9 years ago, near to Wattsville, Caerphilly/Caerffili, Great Britain

Policemans Helmet (Indian Balsam)
Policemans Helmet (Indian Balsam)
A wild orchid type flower, of the Balsaminaceae family. The common name is Indian Balsam, the other British name is 'Policemans Helmet'. Not because of the flower colour, more for the helmet shape on the rear of the plant, (not obvious in the photo). This one was spotted on the banks of the Sirhowy River, running through the village of Wattsville in the county of Caerphilly.
