Ravenglass across the River Mite
Ravenglass village sits on the natural harbour of the River Esk estuary. It was founded by the Romans in AD79. Today Ravenglass is home to two of Cumbria’s best attractions – the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway and nearby Muncaster Castle with its famous gardens and World Owl Centre. As well as an inn, two hotels and a number of guesthouses in the Parish, there’s a caravan park and campsite, a craft shop, post office and mainline railway.
