SH6957 : Path to Dyffryn Mymbyr
Dyffryn Mymbyr is the hill farm featured in Thomas Firbank's book " I bought a mountain", a classic book written in 1940 about Firbank's experiences in buying and running this sheep farm, with no previous experience, with the help (lots of it) of his wife Esme. A cracking book which I'd recommend to anyone who hasn't read it, especially if you love Snowdonia.
As an aside, Firbank left the farm and his wife after writing the book. Esme stayed on, developing the farm and, among many things, founded the Snowdonia Society.
Dyffryn Mymbyr was left to the National Trust following the death of Esme and her second husband, Peter Kirby. Here's a link to an article about it:
