Royal Observer Corps Monitoring Post, Easington
On high ground above the industrial sites of Dawdon, Easington and Seaham this monitoring post would have been in a fine position to observe nuclear destruction of Durham's coastal industry.
Characteristically a line of telegraph poles terminate at the site providing a communication link. It was built in 1962 at the height of the Cold War and closed in 1992.
Several other ruined buildings nearby are associated with a WWII RAF radar station and possibly even earlier acoustic mirror early warning system from WWI like that in Sunderland Link
