Gellet Block
Gellet Block
Remnant of limestone quarrying. A long time scene of acrimony between the estate and climbers who allegedly removed an ivy collection from the face when "gardening" the first routes in the 1960s. Earlier in the week of the visit, "bat boxes" had been fixed in the rock to attract bats and by extension render climbing illegal. After consultation with bat experts, they were removed again.
