SZ0378 : Reinforced cliff in Durlston Bay

taken 14 years ago, near to Swanage, Dorset, England

Reinforced cliff in Durlston Bay
Reinforced cliff in Durlston Bay
The flats on the cliff top are on Belle Vue Road, and when the cliff edge came too close for comfort this stone was brought in to reinforce it. The stone is Portland Stone, some of it in wire baskets - the baskets in the foreground make a flight of steps up to a path that skirts around the bottom of the slope of smaller rocks, above the sea-washed larger boulders at the base.
