TQ3103 : Brighton Pier and Starlings

taken 15 years ago, near to Brighton and Hove, England

Brighton Pier and Starlings
Brighton Pier and Starlings
Now that the West Pier is in ruins, the winter roosts of Starlings select the Brighton Pier (formerly named the Palace Pier which most residents prefer!) and further east at Brighton Marina, where there is more shelter. The numbers sometimes exceed tens of thousands and attract locals and birdwatchers to see their aerial display before settling to roost under the pier. The RSPB often sets up an information post nearby.
