Western Esplanade
Western Esplanade
The walk that links Hove Street in the east with Aldrington Basin in the west. The walk and accompanying sea wall it runs along was built in 1929 along an old shingle bank that was formed by the River Adur whose mouth entered the sea near modern Hove up to the end of the 18th century. Shingle and water are currently being blown around the esplanade whilst the sky indicates the passing of a heavy shower followed by a brief snatch of sun.
