This was in January 2008 when they were clearing the land of trees in preparation for excavating the trench for the New Tyne Crossing (Vehicular Tunnel)
To the left on the picture is part of the Ventilation building used on the present underground Vehicular Tunnel.
On the right of the picture is the Natural gas holder on the riverbank
The Gas Light was demolished in mid 2008
