taken 14 years ago, near to Upper Milovaig, Isle of Skye, Scotland

Shieling remains
Shieling remains
This is a part of the very large group of as many as seventy five shieling huts that were built in this area. All that remains of them today is these lumpy grassy mounds.
The shielings were used as temporary homes for people who moved with their animals from their townships into the hills during the summer for the better grazing.
