The Obelisk, Studley Royal
The Obelisk, Studley Royal
The obelisk at the south western end of Studley Park was erected in 1815 as an 'eyecatcher' at one end of the formal avenue. The building of St Mary's church some 60 years later blocked the view of the obelisk from the north east.
