Cotherstone footbridge
Cotherstone footbridge
In fact, there are two footbridges in close succession on this footpath - a smaller one over the tributary River Balder and this double-span one over the River Tees itself. For canoeists, this one forms a landmark for the end of the Racing Section (named for its regular use for Wildwater races) of the River Tees, whose take-out is river right just downstream of the confluence with the Balder.
