The Fife Coastal Path passes by the ruins of Newark Castle. The wooden post on the right (on the shore) in the view of the castle from the west
NO5101 : Approaching Newark Castle from the West is used as guide for walkers. The sign on the left indicates that if the water has reached the post then the alternative high tide alternative route should be taken beyond the castle.
There could be a perfectly good route along the dismantled railway line if undergrowth was cut back, and then both cyclists and walkers could travel in safety along the coast line of the East Neuk of Fife.
