The new, light and airy, steel and glass Charles Avison Building NZ2564 : Central Library, John Dobson Street, named after the 18th century Newcastle composer (buried here NZ2464 : St Andrew's Churchyard), was opened on 7 June 2009. Its construction was recorded by Peter McDermott NZ2564 : Newcastle City Library
