Bell's Close
Bell's Close
A now unattractive cut through between Carliol Square car park NZ2564 : Carliol Square car park and Pilgrim Street. Not a place to linger. In 1832, a venue off Bell's Court, close to here, was used for lectures in medicine, attended (among others) by John Snow (1813-1858), a British physician and a leader in the adoption of anaesthesia and medical hygiene. He is considered to be one of the fathers of epidemiology, because of his work in tracing the source of a cholera outbreak in Soho, London, in 1854 LinkExternal link
