Royal Exchange Buildings, 104-108 Grey Street
Previously Waterstones Bookshop and now an H&M store. It was built in an Italianate style in 1904 for Mawson, Swan and Morgan, stationers, booksellers and art dealers. The shop had its own private street lighting, still in place on Grey Street. Joseph Swan, one of the partners, was inventor of the carbon filament incandescent light bulb NZ2564 : Commemorative plaque to Sir Joseph Swan
