Built in 1902 and at least the second Beehive Hotel on this site. Inside is a traditional Geordie long bar finely decorated with green tiles. The ground floor exterior of the pub is faced with green and yellow faience. The three storeys of offices above have a red brick façade with ashlar dressings, topped by an ogee tower.

Newcastle's 'new' co-op was built on Newgate Street in 1932. Although 'art decor' in style, it gave more than a nod to Egypt where Howard Carter's discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb had just taken place. See http://www.timmonet.co.uk/html/newcastle_co-op.htm
