The central entrance of this 1870 building leads to Old George Yard and Public House, time travel into the courtyard of a C17th coaching inn NZ2464 : The Old George Pub, Newcastle.

On the right is Pumphreys, a public house known as Rick's Bar. The sign above the shop and the first floor café window provide a memory of the successful Pumphrey's Coffee business for whom this building was built. The first floor coffee rooms were set out in 1897 in the Arts and Crafts style. Pumphrey's operated in the Cloth Market from 1750 to 1983, when it moved to a new factory in Blaydon Link
