The central entrance of this 1870 building leads to Old George Yard and Public House, time travel into the courtyard of a C17th coaching inn NZ2464 : The Old George Pub, Newcastle.
Both shop fronts are the originals.

On the right is Pumphreys, a public house known as Rick's Bar. The sign above the shop and the first floor café window provide a memory of the successful Pumphrey's Coffee business for whom this building was built. The first floor coffee rooms were set out in 1897 in the Arts and Crafts style.
