Liverpool Canal Link - working in Princes Dock 2
A view of Princes Dock during construction of the Liverpool Canal Link. Although the open water of the Princes Dock was to be used, temporary vehicular access was required to build a new lock in the south west corner of the dock. The white concrete wall on the left is part of the lock channel.
Liverpool Canal Link Project
The Liverpool Canal Link is a £22 million pound project that has linked the Leeds-Liverpool Canal from Stanley Dock, via Princes Dock, to Salthouse Dock and the Albert Dock complex. It is 1.4 miles long and has involved creating new locks, and channels and tunnels past the Pier Head.
The new canal was officially opened on the 22 April 2009.
