NZ1217 : Footbridge over Newsham Beck

taken 15 years ago, near to Little Newsham, County Durham, England

Footbridge over Newsham Beck
Footbridge over Newsham Beck
The public footpath from Little Newsham to Cleatlam drops steeply down a leafy slope with rotting steps, and crosses Newsham Beck by this well-built footbridge. The little yellow arrow indicates that it then angles left up the slope towards an old railway trackbed. However, there is no evidence of use on the ground, and no obvious way to cross the fence visible from anywhere near the bridge. Perhaps the path would be more discernible by starting at Cleatlam and working south.
