Cattle watering-hole, Borrans Field, Ambleside
Here there is a short length of watercourse open between two culverted sections, with a cobbled way down from each side. These are quite often found in pasture fields, but few have public access. Borrans Field is owned by the National Trust and is a public open space. A borran is a ruin or heap of stones, and refers to the Roman fort in the field.
