Not of an actual engine but these stones portray the remains of six ironstone miners' houses which were located here south of the mine area.
The engine as named on the O.S. First Ed. Stirling Sht. XXIX.6. LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) referred to the winding engine of the pit.
