St Andrew's Road, Littlestone in 1969
The row of cars is parked outside Littlestone Golf Club, which was built in 1901. The house on the left hand side of the road (actually situated in Madeira Road) is called Netherstone and was built in 1889 as St Andrew's Villa. This was leased to the golf club by Mr Henry T Tubbs for use as the first club house in 1891.
The fence has since been removed and the garden of The Old Green (the mock Tudor house, on the right) is now the site of a TR0824 : Garden House, St Andrew’s Road, which was under construction during June 2017.
When I was three years old (1963) I attended my Aunt's 21st Birthday party which was held in the ballroom at the Grand Hotel. The new apartment building isn't anywhere near as nice as the original.
