Roundabout on Morecambe Road
This roundabout is at the junction of the A589 Morecambe Road and the A683, and is commonly known as "McDonald's roundabout" (out of picture to the left). It was built to connect with the A683 bypass to Heysham.
If the planned M6 link road is built, which will head NE from here (away from the camera), the roundabout will be replaced by a "high capacity signalised crossroads". The patch of greenery in the middle will disappear.
The rocks in the foreground have been specially delivered here and varnished, to commemorate the completion of the bypass to Heysham in 1994.
