TQ0524 : Lording's Bridge, Wey and Arun Canal

taken 13 years ago, near to Wisborough Green, West Sussex, Great Britain

Lording's Bridge, Wey and Arun Canal.
Lording's Bridge, Wey and Arun Canal.
Recent renovation work has seen this section of the old canal become navigable again - but it is still unconnected to other navigable stretches. The bridge was rebuilt in 2002 following the design of Josiah Jessop's original bridge. The lock behind the bridge was a rare turf-sided lock. There are flood gates nearby too which channel surplus canal water into the River Arun.
