St. Mary, Willand
The tower and west end of the Church of St. Mary, Willand. A church has stood on this site since at least 1263, but the present building is around 600 years old. It is typical of many churches and other buildings in the area in having been constructed in red sandstone. One of the chief attractions of the church is the beautiful rood screen, dating from around 1400, and so one of the oldest in Devon. Visitors who which to see inside the church can borrow a key from the post office that stands adjacent to the churchyard gate.
