Remains of quarry's washing plant
This portion of wall is the same one that is shown, from the other side, at NS3976 : Remains of quarry's washing plant; for further information, see NS3976 : Site of Mains of Cardross Farm.

It lies at the top of a slope, on the western side of the cycle route. It is not very well-exposed to view at any time of the year, but is best seen in winter. A little further down the slope is a small brick enclosure, which is probably another part of the washing plant, and which therefore dates from the same period.

Mains of Cardross

Mains of Cardross was a farm near the River Leven, 550 metres ESE of present-day Dalmoak Farm (Young's Farm), with which its former fields are now associated.

See a Geograph article Link for much more on this area and its relation to the site of the Cardross residence of King Robert the Bruce.
