SJ4812 : Morris Hall Yard , Bellstone

taken 15 years ago, near to Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England

Morris Hall Yard , Bellstone
Morris Hall Yard , Bellstone
Off the street named Bellstone is Morris Hall which stands on the site of the mediaeval Bellstone Hall, demolished in 1934 and replaced by this venue for meetings and events.
In the yard (on the right of the steps) is the Bellstone itself, a glacial erratic carried down from the north during the ice age. Its origins intrigued Charles Darwin as a boy and it said to have awakened his interest in geology and the past. See SJ4812 : The bellstone at Morris Hall
