Crown Posada, Side (detail)
One of the most famous pubs in the City and the second oldest. It occupies the ground floor of a grade two listed building with a Victorian exterior NZ2563 : Crown Posada, Side, has an elaborately panelled entrance, original stained glass windows and local real ales.
Originally just 'The Crown', legend has it that a C19th sea captain with a wife in Spain, bought the inn for his mistress, adding the word 'Posada', Spanish for 'hostelry'.
