Anson Museum, beam steam engine
This museum of internal combustion engines has several steam engines in this display hall and adjoining spaces. This is a single column beam engine by John Fowler of Leeds, dated 1872 and lacking much in the way of embellishment. It is on loan from Birmingham Museums and Galleries as there is no space for its display locally.

Brian Hillsdon has supplied the following additional information 20/01/2021: -
From the Fowler Engine Books this seems to be the only beam engine they ever made. Engine number 1747,though number not found stamped on. New 12/1872 to Sir Gilbert Clayton-East, for pumping at Hall Place, Maidenhead. Later to Higgs Motors Ltd. Witton. 1962 to Museum, INV No.62-1641. Cylinder 9 x 18 inches.
