The Thames Barrier is a flood control structure on the River Thames at Woolwich Reach in London. The width of the river is 523 metres at the location of the barrier. It is the world's second largest movable flood barrier after the Oosterscheldekering in the Netherlands. Photo taken from the south bank on 18 August 2004.
