Arthur's Stone (6)
Arthur's Stone (6)
In this image it's possible to see some suggestion of the mound that would once have covered the structure, and it also conveys the eminence of the exposed position that was chosen for the dolmen. However, despite its height (900 feet), George Nash points out that it is not visible from anywhere in the Golden Valley, and he hypothesizes that the site was chosen by its neolithic architects to interact with the landscape in a socio-symbolic fashion.
