Whitworth Hall
The former home of the famous Bonnie Bobby Shafto who lived in a previous building on this site from 1742 to 1797. The original Whitworth Hall was mostly destroyed by fire in 1876 after which the present two storey building was rebuilt. It was owned by a member of the Shafto family till the 1980's and became a Hotel in the late 1990's.
NZ2334 : Church at Whitworth Park The tombs are ascribed by one authority to Thomas de Acle (died c.1290) and his wife. The church is in the grounds of Whitworth Hall , the home at one time of the Shafto family - including 'Bonny Bobby Shafto'.
