Charter train entering Huddersfield station
Charter train entering Huddersfield station
The trailing crossover at the western end of Huddersfield station enables trains off the Penistone line to access the eastbound main line (platform 4), which is not a common movement as passenger trains from Sheffield usually terminate in the south side bay platform. The sight of a loco-hauled train using the crossover is a particularly unusual one.

In this instance the class 47-hauled train was a Green Party charter train that had started in Sheffield and was heading for Edinburgh.
