Cycle underpass, Belfast
See J3371 : Graffiti, Lagan towpath, Belfast. The underpass at the Governor’s Bridge. To quote from an official source “DRD Minister, Mr Gregory Campbell, opened the new Governor’s Bridge Cycle Underpass on 28 March 2001. This structure, which is the first of its kind in Ireland, allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross safely under the heavily trafficked bridge. Sections of the pathway are below the adjacent river level, so a retaining wall and pump system have been installed to deal with surface water run off.” The Stranmillis pontoon J3371 : Workboats on the Lagan, Belfast is on the left.
J3371 : Cycle underpass, Belfast (2) shows the other end of the underpass – at the Stranmillis Embankment.
