The Mermaid of Zennor
The Mermaid of Zennor
The mermaid holding her mirror and her comb is carved on the end of a small seat which is said to be 600 years old.
The story goes that a mermaid disguised as a richly dressed lady fell in love with a local named Matthew Trewella who sang superbly in church. He was charmed by her adoration and followed her down to the sea never to be seen again.
