The grave of Sir Thomas and Lady Olwen Carey Evans at Mynwent Tabor
Sir Thomas J Carey Evans, the son of a Blaenau Ffestiniog GP was a highly qualified doctor who spent much of his career in the Indian Medical Service, was surgeon to the Viceroy of India and surgical specialist to the 8th Lucknow Division. A holder of the Military Cross, he was decorated for his services in Egypt and Mesopotamia in WWI. Lady Olwen was eldest daughter of David and Margaret Lloyd George. The two retired to live at nearby Eisteddfa in 1946, a year only before Sir Thomas' death. Lady Olwen lived on for another 33 years.
