NZ1763 : Path Head Water Mill, Summerhill, Blaydon on TyneJohn King writes:
Strictly speaking it was not a corn mill for human consumption but it was used to grind animal feed for ponies pulling coal wagons and pack animals carrying lead 'pigs' down to be refined on a site which is near the current Blaydon Railway station. There is evidence of a building on the site dating from around 1680. There is or was another Path Head Mill situated about 1 mile SE of this one it no longer exists. The machinery in the mill is not original but comes from Guyzance mill in Northumberland. The large wheel in the foreground is also not from this site but was rescued from a watermill in Acomb about 2 miles north of Corbridge. There is also a working water pumping windmill on site which originated from a farm called Gorfen Letch about 4 miles NW of Morpeth just off the A696.
