Old Windmill Tower at Pittern Hill
Old Windmill Tower at Pittern Hill
Introduction: Pittern Mill is a four storied tower with domed metal cap, basically stone on the outside with interior brick lining; it has had its original doors and some windows bricked up. For some years during the last century, after the machinery had been removed, two large galvanised tanks were installed at cap level and it was used as a water tower for the nearby farm.

Description & Condition: Derelict stone tower originally lined and now much patched with brick, in poor condition. Slight barrel shape; metal sheeted dome cap, remains of iron curb and rack: empty except for floors and 2 water tanks under cap: small, 4 storeys.

Situation: mile west-northwest of Kineton village, in high field by track from main road to Wellesbourne Hastings. Private.

Date Built & Notes: Late 18th century. Had 2 pairs stones. Sails off and ceased work late 19th century. Possible use as dwelling and used as water tower during mid 20th century.
