Bew Castle
A castle was built on this site in the late 11th C. The present castle was built, using stones from the Roman fort, around 1340-1360. The gatehouse on the west side was added in the late 15th C. The castle was abandoned around 1640. {Source: Bewcastle - A brief historical sketch".}
