View southward, towards Aviemore; ex-HR Aviemore - Forres - (Inverness) main line, junction (on left) of ex-GNS branch from Craigellachie, on which passenger service ceased 18/10/65, goods 4/11/68; Aviemore - Forres also lost its passenger service on 18/10/65, but the line Aviemore - Boat of Garten remained open for freight until 4/11/68. Since 1972 the line from Aviemore and on to Broomhill (eventually to Grantown-on-Spey and beyond towards Forres) has been/will be restored by the heritage Strathspey Railway.
