The Plymouth Athenaeum
Founded in 1812 as 'The Plymouth Institution' and on its current site since 1819 the original home of what was renamed the Plymouth Athenaeum was destroyed in the blitz of 1941. The current building was opened in 1961 and its name changed. A variety of facilities are available here including a local interest library, lecture room, large lounge and a 340 seat theatre.
