Cutting on former Grantown to Forres railway
Cutting on former Grantown to Forres railway
Opened in 1863 and closed in 1965, this was part of the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway. This section was on the main line to Inverness from the south until superseded in 1898 by the present direct line from Aviemore to Inverness. The boundary of the Cairngorms National Park crosses the old railway here and then turns to follow the line for about half a mile as it heads northwest.
