The Town Bridge, Weymouth
The Town Bridge, Weymouth
The bridge lifts every two hours starting at 08.00. This image shows the midday lift. The boat seen is passing into the Harbour. The bridge was opened on 4th July 1930 by The Duke of York K.G. later to become a reluctant King George VI. There is an excellent display in the town's museum in Brewery Quay showing photographs and film clips of the events of that summer's day 80 years ago.
