St. Barnabas Church, Kenilworth
In the early 1880's the congregation of St. Nicholas Church had expanded so much that extra services for up to 150 people were being held in what was known as the Mission Room above the Co-op store in Park Road. Clearly a more permanent and convenient solution was needed for the parishioners who lived at this end of the town.

Funds were raised to acquire a piece of land at the corner of Park Hill and to erect an 'iron room'. The new building was opened in 1886 and was originally known as 'St. Nicholas Mission Room'. It was originally intended to be a temporary solution until further funds could be found to build a more permanent structure.

In 1905 the church was renamed as St. Barnabas and the first Holy Communion took place in 1906. In 1945 a local resident paid for a wooden hut to be built behind the church and this has been used as a meeting place for various local groups ever since.

A curate's house, known as St.Barnabas House, was built next door to the church in the 1950's. In 1987 the front entrance was altered to allow easier access for coffins at funerals. The corrugated roof, having been repaired many times, was replaced in 1992.
