The Limes and The Sycamores, Spalding
The Limes and The Sycamores, Spalding
Two good and contrasting Georgian houses. The Limes is two storeys, early-C18th, and The Sycamores is of three storeys and five bays and early-C19th. The difference in proportions between the two demonstrate how Georgian architecture became more refined (or, some might say, lost its vernacular charm). The Limes has two slightly crowded equal-height storeys while the proportions of The Sycamores are more subtle. Both are Grade II* listed.
Spalding is an attractive town which makes unusually good use of its river. Handsome buildings line either side facing each other across the river.
