The equestrian statue of King George 1 in bronze was commissioned by the City of Dublin in 1717 and is Birmingham's oldest public sculpture. It was made in the workshop of John Nost the Elder and sold to the Barber Institute in 1937 standing on Edgbaston Park Road in the University of Birmingham.
