This is a view along the rampart on the northern side of the fortlet. The rampart is placed centrally in the photograph, and is shown receding directly from the photographer's position.
In the distant background, just right of centre, the Holy Loch can be seen branching off from the Firth of Clyde, with Long Long visible nearer the right-hand edge of the photo. The dark shape of Strone Hill (NS1882) lies between the two lochs.
