The ruins of Corlick: central building
The ruins of Corlick: central building
This is a view along the narrow central building of this ruined farmstead; it measures about 22 metres long by 6 metres wide, and appears to have been divided internally by a cross-wall. The Canmore report (see the end-note for the link) refers to a roofed and an unroofed building at the time of the first-edition OS map (surveyed in 1857); this central building was unroofed; the smaller roofed building was at the south-eastern corner of the western enclosure (see the second link given in the next paragraph).

To either side, but out of shot in the present photograph, are two large enclosures: NS2972 : The ruins of Corlick: eastern enclosure and NS2972 : The ruins of Corlick: western enclosure.

The Gryfe Reservoirs can be seen in the background.
The ruins of Corlick

This farmstead, on the lower southern slopes of Corlic Hill (called Corlick Hill on the OS map), was already in ruins by the mid-nineteenth century. See LinkExternal link (at Canmore) for further details, and LinkExternal link for an annotated satellite view, on which the structures are clearly visible.
